The Chapter

The Chapter of Child Neurology and Developmental Paediatrics (CCNDP) was formed in November 2002 to promote paediatric neurology in Malaysia. The committee consists of a chairman, secretary, treasurer and two other committee members. CCNDP is affliated to the Asian Oceania Child Neurology Association (AOCNA).

The AOCNA delegate will automatically be one of the committee members of the chapter. The committee is elected every 2 years in tandem with the MSN election. One member within the committee will be appointed to represent the chapter in the MSN council.

Membership of MSN is a prerequisite in order to be a member of the chapter. All child neurologists and developmental paediatricians currently practicing in Malaysia are member of MSN and are therefore members of the chapter. Other MSN members who are interested in paediatric neurology are encouraged to join the group, and associate membership will be considered for professionals from specialties which are related to paediatric neurology.

The chapter aims to promote paediatric neurology in Malaysia. Currently the chapter organises a regular teaching programme in Klang Valley monthly at the last Thursday of the month. These teaching sessions are rotated around hospitals in the Klang Valley.

Recently these teachings have involved child neurologists from HUSM,Kelantan via teleconference. Beside these regular meetings, the chapter also organises other scientific meetings periodically.

In addition, the members of the chapter are also involved in the credentialing of young budding paediatric neurologists in the country. The chapter would like to encourage multi-centre research and welcome suggestion and ideas to improve and promote paediatric neurology in Malaysia.
